I asked myself if it was a good idea to spend my time and effort in building a business around eBay, and not another type of Internet marketing business. I did consider affiliate marketing as a way to go, and it probably is if you are technically minded and can write award winning articles to grab people’s attention and climb up the search engines rankings, it is however, extremely competitive. I needed to find a simple way to earn extra money online.

I kept coming back to selling on eBay; maybe because it was something I knew, having shopped there myself on many occasions, filling up the grand children’s toy boxes inexpensively for when they came to stay with us at weekends, stuff for the garden and so on, it was familiar territory.

It was also a business that would be controlled by me; people would be paying me for goods and I would not be dependant on a third party to pay me, it would be a transaction between me and my customers just like having a shop. In fact eBay is referred to as an eCommerce store.

There were terms coming up I didn’t understand, like ‘Drop-shipping’ and ‘product sourcing’. I needed help. I didn’t have a lot of money to spend finding out, and my other half would flip if I started buying tons more eBooks on making money online, but who to trust, who could help me make this eBay Fortune more than a dream?

As I said before there are so many books and so much advice out there. Where would I go to find the answers? Where would I look to earn extra money online?

Hello, I am a British housewife currently living overseas in Eastern Europe, Bulgaria to be exact, who out of sheer desperation started looking for a way to make money online and build a home-based business.

We left the UK due to my husband’s employment and it was all very exciting at the time, the thought of a new life in a different culture, and Bulgaria is very beautiful. However, I very soon became bored and wanted something to do as well as earn extra money of my own, I worked full-time before we left the UK and I like that independence and the guilt free shopping!

What to do? It was difficult being in a foreign country with the language barrier, cultural differences and the fact I didn’t know what I could contribute. I wanted to find something I could do from home, so looked into ways to make money online. After many false starts, wasted money and a lot of scams, I turned to eBay. I knew the site and knew that by selling on eBay I would be in control of my business, the money I made online would be my own.

I got going and was doing fairly well, selling stuff that I picked up cheap from markets or from my home- after all one persons junk is another person’s treasure, but not really earning anything great, certainly not making the eBay fortunes that others have claimed mainly I thought, because I don’t know how!

So I started to research about others were doing to make money online with eBay. What was  work for them? And I quickly realized that there were many people out there making an eBay fortune, working online from home as a full time auction business. They were ordinary people; housewives, students, single parents, unemployed and business people, in other words, me. People like me were not only making pocket money, but making real money online.

There is a lot of that on the Internet! Advice about on-line-auctions, much of it good ‘tips & tricks’ and there are people out there saying ‘don’t buy a book about selling on eBay’, it’s all out there for free. Well, let me tell you, it isn’t. As I said there is a lot of good stuff, but not everything, and you really have to search for what there is, and if you don’t know what you are looking for, how will you find it?

So I kept looking, there is so much information on how to make money online out there, so many experts, it can make your head spin. I will let you know what I find. I cannot keep spending money trying out new schemes, so it will be down to research and lots and lots of reading……….
